2021 SDGA District Match Play Championship

Terms of the Competition

 

IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

 

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership: Players must be a member of the SDGA, by (1) belonging to an SDGA member club or (2) joining as a 2021 SDGA Associate Member ($100 fee).

  • Age: Players must be at least 14 years old as of August 5, 2021.

  • USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an active USGA Handicap Index, issued by their member club, of 8.4 or less.


FIELD SIZE AND WAITLIST

The field is limited to the first 81 players to apply. After the field limit is reached, players will be placed on a wait list in order by their time of registration.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: $65 and an additional $25 fee to all players that qualify for match play. This includes all green fees, lunch on Thursday, prizes, and awards.

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (5PM EST on Friday, July 30, 2021). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $20 service fee, will be refunded if a player withdraws 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

 

FORMAT

This is a match play competition, with an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round to determine the top-31 players, who will advance with the 2020 champion. The USGA's method of matching scorecards will be used to determine the last qualifying spot(s), and the medalist.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

Thursday, August 5 // Qualifying Round // Tee times starting at 7:30am (9min intervals)
Friday, August 6 // Round of 32 Matches // Tee times from 7:30am - 9:00am (Foursomes)
Saturday, August 7 // Round of 16 Matches // Tee times start at 7:30am -8:00am (Foursomes)
Saturday, August 7 // Round of 8 Matches // Tee times start at 12:00pm, 12:10pm (Foursomes)
Sunday, August 8 // Semifinal Matches, 7:10am, 7:20am //Final Match, 12:00pm (Twosomes)

 

QUALIFYING  ROUND TEE TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Qualifying round pairings will be posted on Tuesday, August 3rd and will be emailed to all players. If you have a first-round tee time request (early vs late), please indicate in the appropriate field during registration, which also may be edited after you submit your entry (see confirmation email). Pairing requests will not be accommodated.

 

PLAYER LUNCH ON THURSDAY (QUALIFYING ROUND)

A complimentary lunch will be provided to all players on Thursday, August 5th. Lunch will be served from 10-3ish. Choices are; Pulled pork sandwich, Caesar salad with chicken or Chicken Waldorf wrap. All selections will include chips, cookie and a bottled water.

 

GOLF CARTS

The golf cart rental fee is $20 per player, payable in the pro shop (cash only).

 

RANGE

Compliments of Onondaga G & CC.

 

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the medalist, winner and finalist.

 

PRIZES

Gift certificates to the host club pro shop will be awarded to the Top 5 for the qualifier and Top 16 in Match Play.
