2023 SDGA Two-Man Scramble

Terms of the Competition


 ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to teams consisting of two male amateur golfers, who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership: Players must hold an active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index at a 2023 SDGA Member Club or be a member of the NYSGA eClub of Central NY (residence required in SDGA territory).

  • Age: Players must be at least 14 years old as of July 29, 2023.

  • USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an active USGA Handicap Index, issued by their member club, of 12.0 or less.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

The field is limited to the first 22 teams to apply. After the field limit is reached, teams will be placed on a wait list in order by their time of registration.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: $160 per team. This includes one round of golf, cart, light hors d'oeuvres, prizes, and awards.

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Monday, July 24, 2023). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $20 service fee, will be refunded if a team withdraws 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

 

FORMAT: TWO-MAN SCRAMBLE

The format of this championship is two-man scramble (also known as captain and mate). Instructions for the ball to be played is outlined below:

  • General Area: When the ball is in the general area (not in a penalty area, bunker or on a putting green), the ball may be lifted, cleaned and placed within one club-length of its original position, no closer to the hole. A ball may not be moved from a spot in the general area (fringe/rough) onto a green.
  • Putting Green: When a ball is on a putting green, both players must putt from that spot.
  • Penalty Areas and Bunkers: If a ball is in a bunker or penalty area, the ball must be played as it lies. The second ball must be dropped from knee height as near as possible to the spot of the first ball. The ball cannot be placed in a bunker or penalty area.  
  • Unmarked Areas: Any unmarked areas are considered in the general area.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Par 71. Men & Juniors will play from approximately 6,222 yards (White/Yellow), Seniors, Super-Seniors, & Sub-Juniors will play from approximately 5,946 yards (Silver/Gold).

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

AWARDS AND PRIZES

Gift certificates will be awarded to approximately 20% of the field. No POY points are awarded for this event.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Hot dogs and hamburgers, salad, chips, cookies and water will be served following play.

 

CART AND DRIVING RANGE

Carts are included in the entry fee. All players must ride.

 

The cost of range balls is $5.00 per bag.
