TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

 ELIGIBILITY

  • Membership: Reside within the SDGA territory (Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Madison, Oswego, Oneida, Seneca, Tompkins, and Wayne County east of Route 14).

  • Age 18U: Be at least 15 years old as of July 14, 2025.

  • Age 14U: Be 14 or younger as of July 14, 2025.

  • USGA Handicap Index: Have an active USGA Handicap Index that is no greater than those outlined below. Get a free USGA Handicap by joining the NYSGA eClub of Central New York.

    • Boys 18U: 15.0 max

    • Boys 14U: 22.0 max

    • Girls 18U: 22.0 max

 

Note: A junior can play in older age divisions if their USGA Handicap Index is 5.0 or less - emaill jcorcoran@nysga.org prior to the entry deadline to change divisions.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: FREE... courtesy of donations from Greg Natale and other Syracuse area golfers.

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, July 9, 2025). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.


FORMAT

  • Qualifying Round: The first round is an individual stroke play qualifier with players competing in one of three divisions: Boys 18U (15-18 years old), Boys 14U (14 & Under), and Girls 18U (18 & Under).
  • Match Play: The top players advance from the qualifier to match play. Any ties for the last spot will be broken using the USGA recommended method of matching scorecards.
    • Boys 18U: Top-16
    • Boys 14U: Top-8
    • Girls 18U: Top-16

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. All players are provided with a rules sheet before each round. Rules Officials will be on the course and available to answer questions - please call the number of the scorecard for help.

Monday, July 14 // Qualifying Round, Drumlins West //  8:30am Tee Time Start
Tuesday, July 15 // Match Play Rounds, Drumlins West // 8:30am and 12:00pm* Tee Time Starts (Approx. based on morning round finish)
Wednesday, July 16 // Match Play Rounds, Drumlins East //  8:00am-8:40am and 12:00pm* (Approx. based on morning round finish)

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The SDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Wednesday, July 9th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

RANKINGS

The 2025 SDGA Junior District Match Play Championship is ranked by World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), Junior Golf Scoreboard & Team New York

 

                                                         

                                                                                                            

 

 

EXEMPTIONS
The winner and runner-up of the Boys' 18U Division will be exempt into the 2026 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship.

                                                                                                            

CADDIES

The use of caddies is permitted, they must be under 21 years old and may not be related to the player.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

There is no food included with this tournament. The club's restaurant will be open and accept cash/credit as payment options.

 

GOLF CARTS & PUSH CARTS

The use of a golf cart is not permitted. Push carts are approved. 

 

RANGE

Available for purchase in pro shop.

 

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Pro shop credit ($2,500) will be awarded out to the top finishers in each division.
