Terms of the Competition
ELIGIBILITY
This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

Membership: Players must hold an active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index at a 2026 SDGA Member Club or be a member of the NYSGA eClub - Central NY (Counties: Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Madison, Oswego, Oneida, Seneca, Tompkins, and Wayne County east of Route 14 ). NYSGA eClub - Watertown (Counties: Jefferson & Lewis). NYSGA eClub - Adirondacks (Counties: St. Lawrence).

Age: Players must be at least 14 years old as of August 6, 2026.

USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an active USGA Handicap Index, of 8.4 or less.
FIELD SIZE AND WAITLIST
- Field Size: 81 players
- Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure: Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the player's combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. A player's entry will be added to the Championship's pending registration field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on July 31st, all players will be ordered by their current Handicap Index by low-to-high. The 81 player's with the lowest Handicap Index will then be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved player's will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
- Waitlisted Players: Any player that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.
ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

Entry Fee: $90. This includes all green fees, lunch on Thursday, prizes, and awards.

Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Friday, July 31, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

Refund Policy:

Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

FORMAT
This is a match play competition, with an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round to determine the top-31 players, who will advance with the 2025 champion. There will be a playoff to decide the last qualifying spot. The USGA's method of matching scorecards will be used to break ties for seeding + medalist.
RULES
All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

Sunday, August 9 // Semifinal Matches, 7:20am // Final Match, 12:30pm
TEE TIME REQUESTS
The SDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Friday, July 31st (click here).
Pairing requests will not be accepted.
RANKINGS
The 2026 SDGA District Match Play Championship ranked by World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) & Team New York.
LUNCH ON THURSDAY (QUALIFYING ROUND)
A complimentary lunch will be provided to all players on Thursday, August 6.
HALFWAY HOUSE
The halfway house crossing hole #5 & #11 will be open for cash purchase.
GOLF CARTS
The golf cart rental fee is $24 per player, payable in the pro shop. The NYSGA's one-seat policy will be in effect.
RANGE
Available for purchase in pro shop.
AWARDS
Trophies will be awarded to the medalist, winner and finalist. Pro shop credit awarded to top finishers
